Improving Reading Comprehension and Enjoyment

This training, developed by Leicester City LA, aims to offer practical classroom approaches to improve reading comprehension, whilst providing a sound theoretical framework for teachers. Strategies included are fully aligned to the National Curriculum programmes of study for reading comprehension. Focusing mainly on KS2 & 3, the concepts are also relevant to FS & KS1, where the foundations of effective listening comprehension are established. In addition, resources are included to deliver the Inference Training Intervention.

This intervention Inference was promoted inTESpro(25/01/13) as a top evidence based intervention and was included in Professor Greg Brook’s study (2013) “What Works for Pupils with Literacy Difficulties”. The study identified Inference Training as an intervention that offered significant gains in reading comprehension.
